OFFICIALS TAKING ACTION REGARDING DANGEROUS STRETCH OF HIGHWAY 127 IN FENTRESS COUNTY

The Fentress County Commission has approved a resolution to send to the state requesting a run off ramp to be installed on a dangerous stretch of road. Officials say Highway 127 roughly 3 to 5 miles north of Jamestown near Wolf River has been the site of numerous accidents involving tractor trailers. That stretch of road has a steep downgrade with only two lanes of travel with no available emergency escape ramp for run away trucks. If the state does not approve the run off ramp request, commissioners will follow up with another request to drop the speed limit in that area of the highway.

That stretch used to have a winding road that made it difficult to speed. Now it’s just one straight, downhill stretch that burns up your brakes trying to get down it. It was a ridiculous solution to a landslide area…
