NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) –

A toddler was accidentally shot inside an apartment off Summer Place in East Nashville overnight.

The child’s father told police he was giving two of his four kids a bath around 2 a.m. Wednesday.

He reportedly took the 1-year-old out of the bath and put the kid on the bed.

The father reportedly left the room and heard a gunshot.

He said the toddler found a gun, and it went off, grazing the child in the face.

The dad was driving the baby to Skyline Medical Center when he got a flat tire and pulled out into a Krystal’s parking lot about 3.5 miles away from his apartment. He called 911 from there.

An ambulance showed up and picked the baby up.

At last check, the baby has serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

Police are waiting for a search warrant to go inside the apartment.
