The Tennessee Highway Patrol says a man led them on a high speed chase from near Cookeville all the way west to Nashville Saturday. The incident started when troopers attempted to pull over 23-year-old Dontre Antonio Woodruff near the 273 mile marker on the westbound side of Interstate 40. Woodruff allegedly took off at a high rate of speed. Troopers deployed spike strips several times during the chase but to no success. Woodruff got off Interstate 40 at Exit 219 and later crashed on Lebanon Pike in Nashville. Woodruff was charged with reckless endangerment, evading arrest, reckless driving and driving on a revoked license. Woodruff was transported back to the Putnam County jail. Officers say a 2-year-old child and an adult passenger, who was in Woodruff’s car the entire chase, were not injured.
