ROANE STATE CROSSVILLE CAMPUS TO OFFER EMT CLASSES

///
Comments are Off

Roane State Community College is accepting applications for Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) classes that will be offered on the Crossville campus this fall. They have not been offered in Cumberland County for quite some time. The EMT certificate program is a one semester program. Applicants to the EMT program will be selected in a cohort of 24 students.

The program will include a schedule of lecture, lab and external learning experiences (clinical) over a 15-week period. Students will be in the classroom 16 hours per week for lecture and lab and 8 hours per week for their external learning experience. During the external learning experience (clinical), EMT students will be supervised by paramedics with EMS agencies across the East Tennessee area.

This program is designed to prepare the student for the EMT exam given by the National Registry of Emergency Medication technicians (NREMT).

According to the most recent information provided by the Bureau of Labor Statistics Occupational Outlook Handbook, employment of EMTs is expected to grow 23 percent, much faster than the average for all occupations. As the population continues to age, there will be an increasing demand for Emergency Medical Technicians.

This program is eligible for the TN Promise free tuition program. Application deadline is June 15th for the Fall semester.

If you know of someone that would be interested in learning more about the program, please have them contact David Blevins at 865-354-3000 ext. 4768 or email him at blevinsds@roanestate.edu.
