Gov. Bill Haslam has decided to postpone the deadline for private companies to submit proposals to take over the operation of Fall Creek Falls State Park. Officials with TDEC have stated that the RFP’s that would privatize the operation of the park’s restaurant and Inn have been delayed in order to amend some of the process language in the proposals. The idea to privatize many of Tennessee’s State Parks has drawn criticism from several lawmakers and those employed with the park system who are fearful of losing their jobs. Governor Haslam says privatization of amenities could help state parks run better and could save taxpayers money.
