SPARTA EXPOSITOR – A White County businessman has been found deceased on property he owned at 644 Gum Springs Mountain Road after law enforcement officials were notified Feb. 7, 2017, that family members could not locate the 45-year-old and were concerned about his whereabouts.
According to Detective John Ford, of White County Sheriff Department, the body of Bill Crosland was found at approximately 1:30 a.m., Feb. 8. Ford said Crosland had been missing since approximately 9:30 a.m., Feb. 7. Ford said family members and friends assisted with the search. No further details will be released at this time.
White County Sheriff Department was in charge at the scene, with Ford in charge of the investigation.
Also present at the scene were White County Sheriff Oddie Shoupe, Chief Deputy Tommy Simmons, the detective division of White County Sheriff Department, deputies with White County Sheriff Department, who assisted with the search, Darrin Shockey, of Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, White County Emergency Medical Services, and Mike Kerr, assistant coroner.
Crosland was a well known builder and developer in White County.
