A full investigation has been launched by the TBI in an officer-involved shooting incident which possibly involved a suicide at the Rockwood Walmart Tuesday afternoon. According to agents, the father of Quinton Swicegood reported to police that his son was suicidal and gave them the description of the vehicle he was in. Officers spotted the car enter the Walmart parking lot around 1:30 PM. Upon their approach, officers noted Swicegood allegedly brandishing a handgun in their direction. Two shots were reportedly fired, with at least one hitting Swicegood and killing him. The TBI has said that it appeared that Swicegood died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Officer Rick Thomas was identified as the officer who fired, hitting Swicegood’s car. He is on administrative leave with pay during the investigation.
