A Cookeville woman who allegedly had been drinking heavily, was in an accident Monday night which involved an impact so great that it threw her vehicle’s engine block out of the car. Alisha Spivey had reportedly been asked to leave a bar on North Cedar Ave. because she was being “unruly”. Police arrived at the scene just as Spivey was driving off and a pursuit began. Spivey struck a vehicle on Jefferson Avenue and then hit a vehicle being driven by an off-duty sheriff’s deputy. Police say that Spivey’s vehicle caught fire and she had to be rescued by Cookeville firefighters. She, along with the driver of the first car, had to be transported to the hospital for injuries. Both cars came to rest in the Marathon service station parking lot however Spivey’s engine was discovered in the parking lot of the Pilot station across the street.
