Don “Slick” Carr Spring City Don “Slick” Lamont Carr, 85, passed away peacefully at this home on Sunday, December 4, 2016. A lifetime resident of Spring City, he was the son of the late Don and Laura Smith Carr. Slick was a graduate of Spring City High School. He joined the United States Army during the Korean conflict; however, due to his athletic abilities, was kept stateside to play baseball. After serving, Slick continued to play ball for several traveling ball teams. A hunting accident in 1959 changed the course; but he never missed a step and continued to share his love of fishing and sports with his only son and logging over 200k miles jogging/walking the driveway. Slick was a member of the Spring City United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his brother Bayne Carr. Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Nancy Hinch Carr of Spring City, son Don (Angela) Carr of Spring City, sisters Delores Callaham and Kathy Terry both of Chickamauga, Georgia, grandchildren Kendra and Tanner Carr and two great grandchildren. Per his wishes, there will be no visitation or services. Memorials may be made in Slick’s name to the Spring City Lions Club, P. O. Box 684, Spring City, TN 37381 Vaughn Funeral Home, Spring City is in charge of arrangements.
