LABOR DAY WEEKEND SEES SEVERAL ACCIDENTS IN ROANE COUNTY

Several traffic accidents were reported in Roane County over the Labor Day Holiday weekend. In Rockwood Monday a motorcycle collided with a car at the intersection of Wheeler and North Gateway. One person was taken to the hospital by ambulance with non-life threatening injuries. Monday afternoon around 4:30, a motorcycle left traveling eastbound on I-40 near the Lawnville Rd. exit left the roadway and went into a grassy area. There was no report on the condition of the rider. Late Friday night, Dispatch received a report on a man who had shot himself in his vehicle on I-40 near Gallahar Rd. After authorities and emergency personnel attended the incident, the man, who was not identified, was flown from the scene to UT Medical Center where his condition was unknown.
